Online HYROX coaching · Laura Dacey

HYROX training, for everyone.

You don’t need to arrive race-ready. You need enough curiosity to begin and a plan that meets you where you are. I coach complete beginners, capable racers and everyone in between.

I’ve raced beside 78-year-olds

HYROX has room for scratch beginners. You can walk into training without a running base, a sled technique or any idea what a roxzone is.

Slow today is still a start

Your first block is about building capacity you can repeat. No punishment sessions. No pretending your current pace is a character flaw.

Your first finish counts

A first race and a podium push need different plans. Neither deserves guesswork, and neither is treated like the lesser goal.

The roxzone transition area on a HYROX competition floor

The race, in plain English

Eight runs. Eight stations. One repeatable format.

8+81km run
then one station

You run one kilometre, complete a functional station, then do it again until the wall balls are done. The work is fixed. The clever bit is learning how hard you can go and still keep moving.

  • The running makes up half the pattern, so I build the engine properly.
  • The stations reward useful strength and calm technique under fatigue.
  • The roxzone links the two. Clean transitions save energy and time.

Two different start lines

First finish or faster finish

The goal decides the build.

Get to the start line knowing you belong there

I build your running, strength and station skills in layers. By race week, you have rehearsed the work and know the pace you can hold.

  • A base that starts from your actual fitness
  • Station technique before race-pressure intensity
  • Practice sessions that make the format familiar

Find the minutes your fitness is hiding

We work from your last race, not a generic benchmark. Run pacing, station strategy and roxzone efficiency all get trained, then we review the result.

  • Splits and station decisions pulled apart
  • Pacing rehearsed before race day
  • Taper, race strategy and post-race analysis

How I coach it

The plan changes when your week does

01

I learn the whole week

Your work, gym access, running history, recovery and race date shape the block.

02

You train in TrainingPeaks

Every session has a reason, a target and somewhere for your feedback to live.

03

We review it together

A weekly call, WhatsApp access and same-day technique analysis keep the work honest.

04

We rehearse race day

Pacing, transitions, taper and station choices are settled before you need them.

Your first session can be ordinary.
It just needs to be the right one.

Give me fifteen minutes and the honest version of where you’re at. I’ll tell you what I’d build from there.
